Meaningful Object

Recently, I've been working with studio photography. For my first subject, I decided on something special and meaningful in my life.

This object was something I made in middle school. I had just moved to the area and was being bullied and excluded, and I was really having a hard time dealing with my day-to-day life. I had a bunch of mental health problems but no way to really deal with them and almost none of them were diagnosed. I was miserable almost every day. We had a project to make something with a 3D printer, and I made this. The letters are a little crooked, and the whole thing isn't really well designed, but it still means a lot to me. It represented this hope in me that I would someday feel better, and have some people who I could call my friends. It’s funny looking back on this because I actually find it sort of embarrassing, but it was a reminder for 7th grade me to just keep looking forward. So with each little crooked letter, each misprinted o, and each misaligned sentence, I see someone who I used to be, and realize that I shouldn't take who I am now for granted.
